October is looking decidedly PINK around our little corner of the Scenic Rim!
This month we’re shining the spotlight on something very close to the heart of the Canungra community – Turning Canungra Pink – the annual October fundraising campaign supporting Community Cancer Care Canungra.
Turning Canungra Pink
Every October, Canungra gets a rather fabulous pink makeover.
Pink streetscaping appears around town, local businesses decorate their shopfronts and the community comes together for a month of events raising money for Community Cancer Care Canungra.
If you’re staying with us at Clandulla during October, we’d love you to get behind it too.
Come into Canungra, wander through the pink streets, grab a coffee, have lunch, browse the local shops and support the businesses getting behind the campaign. Better still, pop one of the fundraising events into your itinerary or make a donation directly to Community Cancer Care.
A country town dressed in pink for a good cause? We think that’s worth a visit.
October Events
There are plenty of ways to join in throughout the month:
Saturday 10 October – Pink Poker Run
Starting from the Canungra Hotel, this is another colourful addition to the Turning Canungra Pink calendar.
Saturday 10 October – 3 Person Ambrose Charity Golf Day
Head to the Canungra Area Golf Club for a day on the green while helping raise funds for a very worthy local cause.
Saturday 17 October – Canungra Black Tie Ball
Time to swap the farm boots for something considerably fancier! The annual Black Tie Ball at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards is one of the signature events of Turning Canungra Pink.
Thursday 22 October – Cent Auction
Held at Cuppa Hut in Canungra, this morning fundraiser is another easy way to join the fun and support Community Cancer Care.
Friday 23 – Monday 26 October – Canungra Campfest
A whole weekend at the Canungra Showgrounds adds even more activity to an already busy October in town.
Sunday 25 October – Kids’ Pink Markets
Head to the Canungra Village Community Garden from 8am–11am for a special pink edition just for the younger members of the community.
Event details can change, so check the Community Cancer Care Canungra event calendar before heading out.
Can’t Make an Event?
You can still be part of Turning Canungra Pink.
Visit Canungra during October and support the local cafes, shops and businesses that have turned their shopfronts pink, make a donation to Community Cancer Care Canungra, or simply help spread the word.
It’s one of those wonderful times when you get to see just how big the heart of a little country town can be.
From the Farm at Clandulla
Meanwhile, back at Clandulla, spring has well and truly arrived — and apparently nobody told the chickens to practise population control.
We’ve had lots of fluffy little chicks hatch this spring, so there are tiny peeps, feathers and little legs appearing everywhere.
The gardens are loving the warmer weather too, which means our farm gate stall is packed with flowers, fresh vegetables and strawberries grown right here at Clandulla.
So if you’re staying with us this October, there’s plenty happening on both sides of the farm gate: baby chicks and spring produce here at Clandulla, and a whole town turning pink just down the road in Canungra.
Come for the country escape, stay for the chicks… and make sure you pack something pink. 💗
