Our Story

Clandulla Cottages & Farmstay came to life in February 2023, when Matt and Nambok traded boardrooms and deadlines for paddocks, animals, and a different pace of life.

What started as a lifestyle change quickly became something more meaningful.

We didn’t just want to offer accommodation — we wanted to create a place where families could slow down, reconnect, and experience something real together. A place where kids swap screens for feeding animals, collecting eggs, and running barefoot through the grass. Where parents can pause, breathe, and be present.

Today, set on 20 acres in Boyland, Queensland, Clandulla is home to over 150 animals, five family-friendly cottages, and a growing community of returning guests who come not just to stay, but to feel part of something.

Just 45 minutes from the Gold Coast and an hour from Brisbane, Clandulla offers something a little different, a working hobby farm where guests are invited to be part of the story.

Together, we’ve grown Clandulla into a place where guests don’t just visit a farm, they become part of it and leave with memories that last forever.

Meet The Farm Family

At Clandulla, the animals aren’t just part of the property, they’re part of the family.

Every morning and afternoon, Farmer Matt personally runs the farm feed tours, exclusively for guests staying on the farm. It’s not a performance or a show, it’s real life and real connections, shared with you.

You get to meet Abbott the pony, Nakota the horse, gentle giants Herbie, Murray and Roger the steers, or the cheeky pygmy goats Jemima, Spud and Chief… along with dozens of other characters who often introduce themselves before you’re ready.

“I know every animal by name and all their personalities, and guests leave knowing most of their names too,” Matt laughs.

The Cottages

Clandulla Cottages & Farmstay offers five fully self-contained, air-conditioned cottages — Hibiscus House, Banksia, Bottlebrush, Bluegum and Wattle — designed with families in mind.

Each cottage provides modern comfort with a relaxed country feel, private outdoor spaces and beautiful views across the property or towards Tamborine Mountain. Cottage layouts sleep between 2 and 6 guests, with options that can interconnect for larger family groups. Hibiscus House is pet-friendly with prior approval. And Bottlebrush has been renovated with mobility and accessibility in mind.

Guests can expect cosy, welcoming accommodation with pricing typically ranging from $250 to $500 per night, depending on the cottage and season.

“We want families to feel comfortable, relaxed and excited to wake up here each morning,” says Nambok. “It’s about creating a space that feels warm, easy and convenient, while the real magic happens outside.”

We are constantly evolving — listening to our guests, refining our offering, and investing back into the experience to ensure it continues to improve year on year.

Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

We believe tourism should leave a positive impact — on the land, the community, and the people who experience it.

Clandulla operates with a strong focus on sustainability and responsible land stewardship. Our property is powered in part by solar energy, and we rely on rainwater that is carefully filtered for use across the cottages. We are also accredited Sustainable Tourism business and have been since 2024.

We actively reduce waste through recycling and reuse practices, and we are continually exploring ways to improve how we manage resources — including composting organic materials and enriching our soil for our flower and vegetable gardens and planting.

But sustainability, for us, goes beyond operations.

For many of our guests, especially children, this is their first meaningful interaction with animals, nature, and life on the land. We see this as a responsibility to create experiences that foster respect, curiosity, and care for the environment.

Commitment to Inclusivity & Accessibility

We believe meaningful travel experiences should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, stage of life, or background.

Clandulla has been thoughtfully designed with families at its heart. From high chairs and porta cots to safe, open spaces for play, we aim to make travelling with young children simple, comfortable, and enjoyable. The Bottle Brush Cottage has recently been upgraded with an access ramp, wider doorway entries, open plan bathroom with support rails and open kitchen to be accessible for wheelchairs.

We recognise that every guest is different, and we are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, flexible, and supportive. Our team is always happy to assist with individual needs where possible, whether that’s accommodating mobility considerations, providing additional support, or tailoring the experience to suit your family.

We are also exploring opportunities to expand inclusive tourism experiences, including welcoming guests through NDIS-supported travel and creating experiences that cater to a wider range of needs.

At its core, Clandulla is a place where everyone should feel comfortable, included, and able to enjoy the simple joy of being on the farm.
