Clandulla Cottages & Farmstay in Boyland, Queenslandβs Scenic Rim, has fully embraced the cooler season, and honestly, we think this might be one of the most beautiful times of year on the farm. Only a short drive of 1 hour from Brisbane and 45 minutes from the Gold Coast.
The mornings are crisp, the paddocks are glowing in that soft winter light, and thereβs a real sense of community and connection across the Scenic Rim as Eat Local Month gets underway.
Whatβs Been Happening at Clandulla
Life at Clandulla rarely stands still, and this month has been a busy one behind the farm gates.
Between fencing projects, winter farm jobs, and welcoming guests from across Australia and overseas, the farm has been full of energy. Weβve especially loved hosting a number of Singaporean and international guests recently, many experiencing Australian farm life for the very first time. Watching guests meet the animals, breathe in the fresh country air, and soak up the beauty of the countryside reminds us how special this little pocket of the Scenic Rim really is.
Last month also saw the launch of the new Visit Scenic Rim Guide, produced by Destination Scenic Rim and Scenic Rim Regional Council. We were proud to help celebrate the launch and be featured alongside so many fantastic local businesses and experiences. Itβs great to see the region getting the spotlight it deserves.
One of the biggest highlights this month was our Eat Local Month event, Little Farmerβs Day Out, which completely sold out. The day was everything we hoped for, kids cuddling animals, local produce, muddy boots, and families experiencing farm life together.
It was also a chance for us to showcase the little things weβre doing to become more sustainable and connected to the seasons, from growing flowers, and veggies to supporting local growers and makers in our part of the Scenic Rim. We’ve also introduced a Container for Change station on the farm to be environmentally sustainable to which proceeds will be donated to an animal rescue group.
We were also incredibly proud to once again be recognised through Tourism and Events Queenslandβs Best of Queensland Experiences program, receiving a Silver Award this year. For a little farmstay in the Scenic Rim, itβs a pretty special feeling, and a lovely reminder that the experiences we create here at Clandulla continue to connect with guests from near and far.

Winter really is one of the best times to explore the Scenic Rim. Thereβs something special about country communities this time of year, paddock sunsets, roadside stalls, local events, and people coming together over good food and simple experiences.
Which Animals Are Stealing the Show?
Every month thereβs at least one animal stealing the spotlightβ¦ and this month, itβs definitely Abbott the pony.
As the cooler weather arrives, Abbott transforms from pony into what can only be described as a tiny white polar bear. His winter coat becomes extra thick and fluffy, making him look significantly larger, and significantly more dramatic.
Guests absolutely love helping walk Abbott in the mornings to warm him up for the day, and he happily soaks up every bit of attention along the way.
Between Abbottβs winter woollies, the cheeky goats causing their usual chaos, and little Strawberry the chick continuing to grow up far too quickly, thereβs never a dull moment around the farm.

June is all about Eat Local Month in the Scenic Rim. It is the regionβs biggest celebrations of local food, farming, community, and experiences.
From long lunches and farm tours to workshops, markets, and family-friendly events, thereβs something happening right across the region. Itβs the perfect excuse to gather your favourite people, head for the countryside, and experience what makes this part of Queensland so special.
Being just over an hour from Brisbane and around 45 minutes from the Gold Coast makes Clandulla an easy winter escape, close enough for a weekend away, but far enough to feel like a completely different world.
Farmer Mattβs Cowboy Tip
Look after your animals properly and theyβll become part of the family.
Case in point: Herbie, our big friendly Friesian cow, who recently decided the neighbourβs grass looked greener and needed investigating. Farmer Matt ended up walking him home on a lead rope like an oversized grass puppy.
It might have looked slightly ridiculous, but it was a good reminder that animals need regular care, attention, and exercise, whether theyβre dogs, ponies, or very large cows with questionable decision-making skills.
